about food.

i gotta say, for trying to be a healthy person, this baby thing has thrown me for a loop in no area more than my diet. i've always been the empty-your-plate type of girl, game for trying different cuisines and ethnic foods, but wow. lately i'm like a two-year-old who doesn't want anything but her white bread.

hello carbs! mmm. all i want these days is bread, pasta, waffles or rice. up till now my appetite closed down after one piece of toast, but lately it has been wanting all the carbs it can get. [did i just eat an entire loaf of pillsbury garlic toast? yes i did.]

major shout out to annie's organic white cheddar mac & cheese. don't think i could live without that stuff right now. saltine crackers are great too, by themselves or with my new peanut butter & nutella dipping. eggo waffles. great harvest bread samples with butter and honey. now if you'll excuse me i need to toast a waffle before going back to work.

p.s. i am completely against meat. and most vegetables. and yes, sometimes even cookies make me gag. tragic.

While being preggo with Paige, I ate my weight in pasta with shredded parmesean cheese and butter. It was one of the only things that sounded good. Totally know what you are feeling. Happy New Year to you guys! Come see us in Roseville!!!

Aww how SAD!!! The beginning of pregnancy is the WORST. All I ate the first 14ish weeks was Panda Express Chow Mein. No kidding. And then once the all day "morning" sickness wore off, I developed a love of sugar. SOOO unlike me. I am not much of a sweet lover. And as soon as Cam was out, I went back to not really wanting the sweets anymore. Dang babies!!

Mmmm... I'm with you on the carbs love. I completely lost my taste for sweets when I was pregnant (excepting Nutella, of course). Mmmm Great Harvest!!

I swore off vegetables too! Which is weird, because I've always been a big veggie girl. It's slowly starting to come back for me though. I just barely bought a bag of carrots for the first time since September. But my cravings change from week to week. This weeks it's been quesadillas. I've lost count of how many I've made this week.

So what happens when people like me eat carbs everyday incessantly and they're NOT pregnant?

Oh boy! Welcome to the carb coma club. It's so fun to hear it happens to other mommies too. I used to eat saltines in the pews at church.

Not fair that baby can suck all the nutrition out of our bones and we are left with white simple carbs. It's exhausting, gross, and also addicting. When baby is finally out and you are exhausted and up all night, it's real easy to find your way back to the gross carbs instead of making a salad - even when it doesn't make you gag.

I could NOT eat veggies, whole grains, or most meats. Cold cereal was my friend.

Only thing I have to say is that nutella is delicious. For reals. :)

I was so sick in my first trimester, the only comfort I got was from peanut butter. If I could gag down some kind of meat that made me feel better too, but I was never sure if it was worth it.

Gotta love being pregnant. I remember once when I was pregnant and had not yet told my family. We went out to dinner and by the time my food had gotten to me, I felt like throwing it up instead of putting it down. Well, I forcefully ate it, all of the cause of the secret. Also, look at as a plus, usually you find after pregnancy the food you enjoyed during pregnancy repulse you now. So hopefully you'll be right back to your old eating habits soon after. Good luck!
