things i know so far about colorado

- parker is really windy.

- denver likes buffalos, rams, chipotle, hybrid cars, gold mining and brick [you see references to these items frequently].

- the downtown area is really pretty and full of old, historic buildings. they have some skyscrapers but even when you're walking down the middle of the city, you don't feel like you're in a giant urban center. picture above is from our visit to the 16th street mall in downtown today.

- the leasing center in our complex has free cookies!! more on where we live soon.

- people really like dogs. and exercising. and wearing exercise clothes out to run errands. everywhere we go, we see people out walking or running with their dogs -- and then, when you go to target in the middle of the day, you see women in snazzy name-brand leggings & hoodies everywhere. i can't figure out if this is a colorado thing or a suburban mom thing.

- denver has a union station just like LA and a colorado blvd just like pasadena.

- i thought denver was a lot closer to the mountains than it actually is. it's called the mile-high city for its elevation, but if any team should have a baseball team named the rockies i would definitely vote salt lake over denver. utah's mountains feel a lot closer.

- they have traffic just like LA, and no carpool lane. odd. we live 15 miles south of downtown but if you want to come down here during rush hour you should really just stay home because it will take you foreverrrr.

more to come :) and by the way we are slowly but surely settling in, so i don't feel weird about being here anymore. i like adventures...it just takes me a couple days to get used to them.

Nice. I want to be a Denver mom in leggings and a hoodie. Except I want to have a buffalo on a leash, rather than a dog.

Every time you want a cookie, take two and then mumble something about "one for the baby..."

those are good observations about Colorado. I like all the exercising people! I would love to live in my workout clothes. I can't wait to see pictures of the place. I am still so jealous that target is a mile from your house! Hooray for Colorado.

I'm so excited to see posts about CO because it brings back great memories!
Since everyone has dogs there we felt we needed one too & it lasted two months.
Yes, the mtns. are far away & traffic on the 70 to and from them is super annoying as well.

You have jogged my childhood memories with your fun little Denver recap.

If you were my Brandon, and you were to live in Arvada, you might add to your list: "Everyone looks like they came from a Warren Jeffs compound".

Glad you're in Parker. It's posh, and hip...and Warren Jeffs and his ladies stay far away from there I think.

This made me laugh. They do have carpool lanes, but they are in area just north of downtown.

I'll have to ask Chris for a list of things for you to do while you're there. He's from Centennial and his parents still live there so we frequent CO quite often. He wants to end up in CO some day. Me? I wanna end up in WA :) So we'll see what happens.

What do you do during the days now that you're done working? Must be nice. I wish I didn't have to work anymore....come on October!

Anyways, I'll send you an email with a list of "must sees/dos".

LOL about the leggings and hoodies. That's so true! You need to invenst in a lot of puffy jackets, fleece and leggings if you plan to live in Denver. It's the go-to outfit for everyone!

Colorado is notorious for its outdoorsy-ness. It's also the fittest state in the nation.

To think if I hadn't moved to California.
