under construction

my workplace currently looks like this:

the office is filled with construction workers all day who are supposed to be doing "quiet work" (the "loud work" is for after hours) but today they were banging and scraping and yelling all day.

my apartment complex looks like this:

say goodbye to the purple buena vista. they're ripping off the roof, painting the walls, doing general construction. these workers are loud too. and now my complex smells like smoke and paint, instead of just smoke.

also, they painted our balcony while we were in utah and moved our satellite dish. i know this because there is paint UNDER our satellite dish, and it doesn't work at all so the directv people told us it was probably disconnected. now i have to pay to have the repairman come out, AND he can't come until saturday.

NO TV ALL WEEK. not that i'm addicted to tv or anything, but it is nice to watch jon & kate or top chef while i make dinner. (husband is pining for the simpsons.) i haven't missed it too much yet but thursday will be rough -- no survivor, the office or 30 rock :(

and while i'm on it, let me say that directv SUCKS. we have had them for only 7 months and already we've had multiple problems. technicians have come out three times, in addition to all the times my macgyver husband jiggled the dish enough to fix the random problems. the customer service peeps are nice enough on the phone, but seriously. i wish the stupid thing would just work.

LAAAAAAAAME TV situation! That seriously sucks. No TV is annoying, no matter how little or how much you watch.

Funny that your life is under construction!

Oh my gosh NO TV?!?! ARGH!!! Blimey! That's not cool. Hang in there. And come over on Thursday if you're desperate for some Michael Scott and Liz Lemon. :-)

Lame lame lame. I HATE it when the TV doesn't work. I've lived thru office construction...it's very messy and loud. When is it all going to be done?

Psh. No one watches TV on a television set anymore! You can find practically all shows on the internet, through the networks' websites or sites like Hulu, Joost, etc. Check out this link:

Your dog is sooo cute! I can't wait to hold it and it won't be too big for Ashlyn to be around too! Yeah!

Isn't construction fun! I feel for you. The hospital was under construction when I had Makayla... yeah, the labor and delivery wing... they're expanding!

Thanks for the warning. I keep getting enticing advertisements for direct tv. Think I'll stay clear, though. Can you watch any of your favorite shows online? I like Fringe, but have watched most episodes online as I seem to be busy or gone on Tues. nights.
